Mothers taught that to their sons and fathers to their daughters. It wasn't just men having women on a leash. You've misunderstood Marina's lyrics. This song is solely aimed at corrupt oppressive men in power literally nobody else. She talks about planet earth suffering under the rich Oil sheiks and men in such positions are often discriminatory towards other groups she mentions Hassanal Bolkiah who believes in Sharia law and mass murders homosexuals. The people who are offended are probably in majority first world countries forgetting that this song is even more true in 3rd world countries for women. It's not an anti men song she's saying she doesn't wanna live in a male dominated world anymore especially with so many bad people in power listen to it again through this lens.
